Missed Connections

I’d heard of this project before, I think, but never really bothered to look into it. Then yesterday I came across this lovely, sad story – one of the many missed connections that people have described – and decided to look into it again.

The Missed Connections idea itself, asking the internet to help you find your missing link, is not that interesting. There are great stories there, I’m sure, but there’s so many that I can’t be bothered to go through all of them.

Fortunately, there are people like illustrator Sophie Blackall, who started the Missed Connections project, which resulted in the book Missed Connections: Love, Lost and Found. You can read more about it here. It’s quite lovely, and Brain Pickings is an amazing website that you should most definitely visit.

The illustration at the top is for the story that Blackall describes here; it’s sad and sweet, just the way I like it. I wonder if they found each other again – wouldn’t that be nice?
